William Attfield (1823-1876)

William was the eldest son of Rev. William Attfield of Bath and his wife Mary Anne, He played cricket for West of England vs. MCC in 1845. He is seen here in the uniform of the 2nd Somerset Rifle Volunteers in a photo dated c.1860.

Note: Although the name William Attfield is written on the back of the photo, it could possibly show his younger brother Robert Cecil Attfield. Compare the photo on page 7 of the “Attfields of Bath” essay in the Stories section; the original of which also has William Attfield written on the back.
