A Portway "Tortoise" Stove, Halstead, Essex

The plaque reads in part: "This bus and car park has been constructed on land where Portways Tortoise Foundry once stood. Charles Portway & Son Limited were major Halstead employers and traded from this site from 1879 until 1975."
