Major changes and additions, 2009
Unfortunately I have again had little time to maintain the site during 2009. The following items are new:
- Second revision of the article about the Attfields of Bath in the Stories page.
- A completely new version of the family tree, accessed from the Family tree page, now using the program Family Historian 4.0.
- Added information, mainly from the new London Parish Register collection on the Ancestry website, including among others marriage data for Richard Attfield’s daughters Jenny, Sophia and Elizabeth.
- Various new photos added to the Gallery page, including portraits of Charles Portway, Catherine Jane Attfield and Jane Otten.
Major changes and additions, 2008
- Will transcript of India William Attfield (proved 1853) added to Documents page.
- The article about the history of the Attfield surname has been extensively revised and uploaded to the Stories page.
- I have decided to accept the marriage between Henry Attfield and Jane Bramstone (1744) as correct for the top of this family tree, forcing revision of the article about Henry Attfield, cricketer, on the Stories page.
- Added information about the Aujard family in Australia, descended from the marriage of Edward Aujard and Ann Elizabeth Attfield in 1847.
- Information about Eleanor Elizabeth Attfield, daughter of George Attfield and Sarah Baker, born c.1818.
Major changes and additions, Nov 2007-Jan 2008:
- Will transcripts of William Poole Attfield (proved 1856), Julia Nettleship (proved 1888) and Professor John Attfield (proved 1911) added to Documents page.
- A new article about Henry Attfield, cricketer added to Stories page.
- A revision of the Attfields of Bath article on the Stories page with additional material.
- Information about the family of Mary Dee who married Henry Attfield at Chertsey in 1767.
- Additional information about the Pulford and Thornton families with acknowledgements to the Pulford family genealogy site.
Major changes and additions, Aug-Oct 2007:
- Memoir of Elsa Herkomer added to Stories page with thanks to Peggy Larken.
- A new article about the Attfields of Bath added to Stories page.
- Song “Where Has The Gifted Charmer Fled?” by W[illiam] E[lement] Attfield (c1835) added to Documents page.
- More information on the Freakes family (which probably connects my Attfield family with the Attfields of Farnham).
- Ashby family photos added with thanks to Bob Ashby.
- Additional Bellingham and Dutton family information with thanks to Harry Dutton, Hannah Longman and Mark Newman.
Major changes and additions, March-July 2007:
- New information about the Cleere family added with thanks to Steve Clere.
- Additional Paley family information with thanks to Lynnette Hammet.
- Fawkes family extended backwards by two generations.
- Photos of the Attfield family of Burton Latimer, Northants, added with thanks to the owners of the Burton Latimer website.
Changes and additions, Jan-Feb 2007:
- A new article about William Akersten by Harry Dutton added to Stories page.
- A new article about my father-in-law Kurt van der Walde by his daughter Norma van der Walde added to Stories page.
- Filled a major gap by identifying Mary Hopkins, wife of Arthur Fawkes whose son Thomas married Harriet Attfield in 1848.
- New and corrected information on the Bolt family, Weymouth, Dorset.
- New information added on the Cosser family with grateful acknowledgements to Ann Cossar.
- Death date (1896) of Ann Elizabeth Aujard, daughter of William Poole Attfield, discovered. Her husband Edward Aujard remains a mystery however!
- Deleted information on Auger, Francis, Holdstock and other Kentish families linked with Annie Emmeline Bradshaw who I had wrongly identified as daughter of Henry Boursiez Bradshaw & Clara Amelia Attfield.
Major changes and additions, Nov-Dec 2006:
- A new article about Professor John Attfield added to Stories page.
- Will transcripts of Henry Attfield (died 1815) and George Swain Attfield (died 1842) added to Documents page.
- Significant new information added about the Bayes family of Yorkshire, with grateful acknowledgements to Jack Bayes.
- My maternal great-grandmother identified as Ann Barnett, and death date (1881) discovered.
- Identified ancestry of Mary Anne Cooke who married William Attfield of Bath in 1821.
- Death date (1912) of Emily Anne Head, daughter of William Attfield of Bath, discovered, finally completing all key dates for this line.
- Death date (1904) of Maria Woods, daughter of David Royce Attfield of Northamptonshire, discovered, completing key dates for this line.
- A substantial amount of new information added from post-1858 wills as the result of a visit to the Probate Registry, London, in November 2006.
- Article “I Am The Shadow” added to Documents page with grateful thanks to Yvonne Leduc.
